Methodology & coverage

Coverage

Latest 12 House PTRs; up to 8 Form 4 filings each for Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA; latest 13F-HR for Berkshire Hathaway, Bridgewater, Scion. Selected coverage, not exhaustive.

Counts describe this bounded snapshot, not all market activity. Refresh is a manual script run, not a scheduled or real-time feed.

Politicians

Official House Clerk annual index, FilingType P, sorted by filing date. The latest 12 PTR PDFs are downloaded and converted using pdftotext. Supported table rows expose transaction date, code, owner and amount range. Unparseable rows and documents are omitted rather than guessed. Names and districts come from the official index. Source PDFs remain the authority; consult them for options, descriptions and corrections. Dividend reinvestments may be included. The asset text is reported as printed, not standardized market data.

Not ingested: eFD requires agreement to use restrictions before searching. No automated agreement or access-gate bypass. House-only pending access/terms review.

Congressional reports can lag transactions by up to 45 days (normally within 30 days of notification). We publish as news and reference only, without party rankings, trade recommendations or paid copy-trade features. Commercial use restrictions require legal review before monetization.

Insiders

Official data.sec.gov submissions select up to eight recent Form 4 filings for each of Apple, Microsoft and NVIDIA. Raw EDGAR XML supplies reporting-owner names, non-derivative P/S transactions, reported shares and prices. P/S can mean open-market OR private transactions; not every sale is discretionary. Reported prices may be weighted averages: see footnotes. Multiple reporting owners can describe one joint filing, not independent trades. Derivative tables and other codes are excluded. This is a selected issuer sample, not the entire EDGAR feed.

Verified records / 13F

Latest 13F-HR for Berkshire Hathaway, Bridgewater and Scion from their submissions records. We show reported information-table entry count and aggregate reported value in dollars under the current 13F schema. Entry count is not necessarily unique securities. Values describe covered reportable long holdings, not net asset value, shorts, total portfolio or realized returns. Quarter end is NOT a transaction date; we do not infer trades or compute price-move returns on 13F snapshots. Filings may lag quarter end by 45 days. No good-track-record badge is awarded.

Returns & rankings

What is shown: for eligible equity tickers with a cached daily close series, each disclosure row may show two security price moves (simple price returns, not total returns):

What this is not: not the filer’s realized profit or loss; not a portfolio return; not evidence of skill; not investment advice. A disclosed sale is not treated as a short — the figure is still the underlying security’s price move. Politician amounts remain ranges, so dollar P&L cannot be known. Missing, ambiguous, or uncovered tickers show unavailable, never a fabricated 0%.

Price source (this snapshot): Fin-node (fin-node.net). Daily OHLC JSON from the Fin-node Data API (no API key; attribution requested by the publisher). Fin-node’s published universe at fetch time: AAPL, AMD, AMZN, AVGO, BABA, BAC, BLK, CRM, CVX, DIS, GOOG, GOOGL, GS, INTC, JPM, META, MRVL, MSFT, MU, NFLX, NVDA, ORCL, PLTR, PSKY, SONY, SPCX, TSLA, TSM, WBD, WMT. Tickers outside that universe are unavailable. Cached under data/prices/ with source URL and retrieval time. Fin-node’s Close field is used as published; the publisher does not document split/dividend total-return adjustment, so figures are treated as unadjusted price returns. Corporate actions are not independently reconciled. Series as-of date is the latest Close date in the cache, not a live quote timestamp.

Source research note: Stooq, Yahoo Finance unofficial endpoints, and common free API tiers (Alpha Vantage, Tiingo, Finnhub, Twelve Data free) prohibit redistribution and/or commercial/external display. No signup or paid commercial licence was purchased for this pass. Fin-node is used where it explicitly invites agent use with attribution; residual upstream market-data rights remain with their sources. A paid commercial external-display feed would improve coverage and rights clarity.

Leaderboards: activity counts only. No person-level return ranking is published.

Reproducibility & limitations

scripts/fetch_filings.py writes data/live.json. scripts/fetch_prices.py caches Fin-node series under data/prices/. scripts/enrich_returns.py attaches structured return objects. scripts/test_returns.py covers non-trading days, missing data, sale non-inversion, 13F exclusion, and spot recomputation. HTTP responses cached six hours; serial requests with a 300ms pause; no login or CAPTCHA bypass. Amendments are not reconciled. PDF parsing is best-effort. Consult official reports before relying on any field.
